Considerato che il popolo italiano ha riconfermato in tutto e per tutto, nel recente Referendum, la Costituzione del ‘48 è necessario più che mai che questa sia applicata anche in quelle parti che non piacciono alla sinistra. Infatti la caratteristica principale del nostro Istituto presidenziale è espressa chiaramente all'articolo 87 della Carta costituzionale del 1948 , dove vi si trova a chiare lettere, quasi scolpite nella pietra, che il Presidente della Repubblica rappresenta «L'unità nazionale». Quindi, ci pare assolutamente necessario che i Senatori a vita debbono conformarsi all'Istituto che li ha espressi ed il loro intervento è doveroso e auspicabile sui temi che rappresentano effettivamente l'interesse e l'unità nazionale anche in senso lato. Noi assistiamo invece, in questo momento, per la prima volta nella storia della nostra Repubblica, ad uno spettacolo indecoroso nel quale tutti i Senatori a vita e gli ex presidenti della Repubblica sono divenuti decisivi per la sopravvivenza dell'attuale Governo, violando chiaramente lo spirito della Costituzione, prendendo posizioni su temi squisitamente partitici, venendo meno a quel dovere di ispirarsi a quell'unità nazionale chiesta rigorosamente dalla Costituzione al Presidente della Repubblica e quindi a quell'istituito da quale i Senatori a vita derivano la loro nomina ed il loro potere.
Il rigoroso rispetto della Costituzione auspicato a parole proprio da molti Senatori a vita, suona come una presa in giro nelle presenti circostanze. Quanto meno sarebbe opportuno che il Gruppo dei Senatori a vita non agisse quale partito organizzato all'interno del Senato, parteggiando sistematicamente all'unisono per uno solo dei gruppi politici - specificamente quello dell'Unione delle sinistre - senza never take the slightest consideration that part of the Senate which is above all a majority of voters, that is the majority of Italian citizens.
